At the Leslieville Flea two weeks ago I picked up what is now my new favourite Fall skirt. It's a red wool tartan maxi-skirt straight out of the 70's. It's the kind of skirt you buy and wear all the time, or once because it shouts "LOOK AT ME. SKIRT! SKIRT! SKIRT!". No shrinking violet, I'm determined to do the former, which presents some challenges because this garment amounts to a plaid wool blanket wrapped around my waist. Time to clash the f*&k outta this thing.Read More
And Burn your Leggings.
It’s getting cold out. My heart aches at the thought of packing away my summer skirts and dresses. This year I’m going to avoid it altogether.
I got my tights ready; the knits, the opaques, the sheers, the knee highs and the metallics. But this year my plan is PANTS!Read More
I love a good pattern clash. But, as evinced in the pile of clothes on my bed when attempting a multi-dimensional clash, the trend isn't effortless. Indeed, I was raised on a diet of grains and matchy-matchy, but if the FW2015 runways of Gucci, Dior, Chanel, Maison Margiela, Dries van Noten, etcetera etcetera are any indication it's time to drop the diet and live our weird inner child in all its glory.Read More

Women, unwittingly, are forced to have an opinion about high heels. It’s a social expectation we contend with - that being tall and lean equates beauty - so clamour onto those stilts and lengthen your legs, we're told. Consciously (or not) we must respond to the question: Do I want to master walking unnaturally?Read More
I often hear: "I love vintage, but won't go thrifting because I don't have the patience to search for the good pieces."
Alas, your time spent in a thrift shop can spent much more productively by following a few guidelines. Actually, just one guideline. And it's simple.Read More
... and into some flared or cropped jeans!
We BEG you, the next time you see a pair of ripped skinny jeans on a hanger and are thinking "Ooohh, I don't have them in this colour. And these RIPS! I've always wanted a pair that has seven rips down one leg!" PUT THE DENIM DOWN AND STEP AWAY FROM THE CLOTHING RACK.Read More
Thats right, flip flops are out. Slides are in. And this is a good thing.
Don't get me wrong. I love the first day in late Spring I wear my flip flops outside the house. My feet feel cool, my toes are breathing. After Winter, it almost feels risqué to leave the house in bare feet. That feeling stays with me for about 20 minutes. Then it's replaced by a stiff achy pain in the arch of my foot and a red, hot, raw feeling in between my two first toes. A dual thought-process begins: when can I take these f@#king things off because I AM SO MISERABLE RIGHT NOW and, this is a necessary evil because I am breaking in my feet for summer.
Well not any more! Slides! I'm obsessed.Read More
